Parque General San Martín
Mendoza
A sprawling city park created by law in 1896 and designed by landscape architect Carlos Thays, with a man-made lake, rose garden, the Mendoza Zoo grounds, and the university's own soccer stadium — the green heart of Mendoza City and the starting point of the drive up Cerro de la Gloria.
2
Cerro de la Gloria
Mendoza
A hillside monument overlooking Mendoza City, dedicated to General José de San Martín and the Army of the Andes, whose 1817 crossing of the mountains helped secure independence for Argentina and Chile — one of Mendoza's most recognizable landmarks.
3
Aconcagua Provincial Park
Mendoza
Home to Cerro Aconcagua, at 6,961 meters the highest peak in both the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere. Most visitors see it from the Laguna Horcones viewpoint, a short walk from the park entrance along Route 7 toward the Chilean border.
4
Puente del Inca
Mendoza
A natural rock bridge spanning the Las Cuevas River high in the Andes, colored yellow and orange by mineral deposits from the thermal springs that once ran beneath it — one of the most-photographed stops along the High Mountain route toward Chile.
5
Plaza Independencia
Mendoza
Mendoza's largest and most central plaza, laid out in the rebuilt city after the 1861 earthquake, with the Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno underground and a weekend arts-and-crafts market above — the natural starting point for exploring the Old Town on foot.
Mendoza City itself sits around 750 meters above sea level, and many wineries and mountain excursions climb well above that — the Uco Valley alone runs 1,000-1,500 meters. It's rarely a serious concern for most travelers, but pace yourself on your first day.
Mendoza sits in the Southern Hemisphere, so summer (December-February) is hot and dry, while winter (June-August) is cool with occasional snow in the mountains. Grape harvest — one of the best times to visit wineries — runs roughly February through April.
Many of Mendoza's top bodegas, especially those with a restaurant or Michelin Guide-recognized lunch, take a limited number of visitors per day and should be booked well ahead, particularly in peak season.
Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, and the Uco Valley are Mendoza's three main wine areas, but they aren't next to each other — the Uco Valley alone is roughly an hour's drive from the city. A private driver removes the need to plan around this yourself.
The Route 7 corridor toward Puente del Inca, Aconcagua, and the Chilean border crosses genuinely high terrain and can close temporarily for snow, even outside deep winter — worth building a little flexibility into a High Mountain day.
Mendoza sits at the foot of the Andes, in the rain shadow that makes it Argentina's driest major city — and, paradoxically, its most fertile wine country, irrigated for centuries by snowmelt channeled through a network of tree-lined canals. It's a city built for outdoor living: wide, plane-tree-shaded avenues, sidewalk cafés, and a laid-back pace that speeds up considerably once Malbec and asado enter the picture.
Voyzo's private tours in Mendoza are driver-led experiences — a private vehicle and guide for your own group, whether that's a half-day at two hand-picked wineries, a full day deep in Aconcagua Provincial Park, or an afternoon at the Cacheuta hot springs.
Tell us your group size and dates — we'll take care of the rest.
