Kamloops Airport (YKA) says it serves Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Whitehorse (seasonal), and lists Air Canada, WestJet, Pacific Coastal and Air North among its airlines. Tourism Kamloops describes some services as seasonal. The airport's site shows hours of 03:00 to 00:30 daily.
Vancouver is 354 km (3.5 hours), Whistler 302 km (4 hours), Jasper 441 km (4.5 hours), Banff 494 km (5.5 hours), Calgary 619 km (7 hours) and Edmonton 805 km (8.5 hours), according to Tourism Kamloops.

BC Transit runs the local buses. Its fares page, read 26 October 2026, listed a single ride at CAD 2.50 (ages 19 to 64), a DayPASS at CAD 5 and a 30 Day Adult Pass at CAD 55, with children 12 and under free; the page shows only a dollar sign and no effective date.

Rules and guidance checked on 26 October 2026 from the organisers named in each card. Confirm anything that affects a booking with them.
Tourism Kamloops has no brick-and-mortar visitor centre; a seasonal pop-up Visitor Centre runs in Riverside Park from May through September, with pop-up booths at major events. It does not book experiences or accommodation, so book those with the provider.
British Columbia's PST is generally 7%, with some exceptions (Government of BC, updated 21 September 2026). The Secwépemc Museum and the BC Wildlife Park state that their prices exclude 5% GST.
IRCC says visa-exempt foreign nationals need an eTA to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport, but not to arrive by car, bus, train or boat, and that US citizens are exempt from the eTA but must carry proper identification such as a valid US passport. The eTA fee shown is CAD 7 on an IRCC page dated 23 April 2024 (read 26 October 2026), so check canada.ca before you travel.
Tourism Kamloops' post of 19 September 2024 describes three sites. East Shuswap Road: silt bluffs from an ancient glacial lake on Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc land, to be viewed from the vehicle without stopping. Cinnamon Ridge: volcanic hoodoos, a difficult trail with little shade, and Tourism Kamloops calls roadside parking on Tranquille Road illegal and very dangerous. On 26 October 2026 the Secwépemc Museum listed adult admission (ages 18 to 60) at CAD 16 plus 5% GST (the page shows only a dollar sign). Tourism Kamloops says the Kamloops Indian Residential School tour must be pre-booked, that visitors must be able to climb four flights of stairs and that no mobility accommodations have been added. The museum's site gives the school's dates as 1923 to 1977 and Tourism Kamloops says it opened in 1890; this page does not choose between them.
Tourism Kamloops points visitors to DriveBC, Emergency Info BC, the BC Wildfire Service, the River Forecast Centre, the Air Quality Health Index and the City of Kamloops emergency alerts for current conditions. Kamloops is a city in the Thompson Valley of British Columbia's Interior, where the North and South Thompson rivers meet. Tourism Kamloops gives the road distance from Vancouver as 354 km (220 miles), about 3.5 hours by road, and from Calgary as 619 km, about 7 hours. Check DriveBC for current road conditions before you drive.
It depends on what you want to see. Summer is the warmest: July averages a daily high of 29.3 °C and August 28.8 °C (1991-2020 normals, Environment and Climate Change Canada). October brings the Adams River salmon run, and BC Parks lists 2026 as a dominant-run year. Sun Peaks lists its winter opening day as 21 November 2026, and January is the coldest month, with a mean daily low of −5.7 °C.
Voyzo's guides cover five places: the Secwépemc Museum and Heritage Park, the BC Wildlife Park, Kamloops Lake, the hoodoos around the city and Sun Peaks Resort. Tourism Kamloops also counts 82 parks and over 40 km of trails in Kenna Cartwright Nature Park. The Voyzo tours above combine the five places into three private day trips.
Yes, though schedules vary. Kamloops Airport (YKA) says it serves Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Whitehorse (seasonal), and Tourism Kamloops names Ebus and Rider Express as intercity bus services and VIA Rail Canada as a rail option, without publishing schedules. In the city, BC Transit runs local buses, and a single ride was listed at CAD 2.50 on 26 October 2026. Check each operator's timetable before you travel.
Sun Peaks says it is 56 km (35 miles) from Kamloops, a drive of 45 minutes on a well-maintained mountain road, and that Kamloops Airport is its closest. Winter conditions and traffic can change driving times significantly, so check DriveBC. The resort lists its winter opening day as 21 November 2026. Voyzo's Sun Peaks tour is an eight-hour private day trip from your hotel or accommodation in Kamloops.
It depends on the site. The East Shuswap Road silt bluffs sit on Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc land, and Tourism Kamloops asks visitors to respect the community's wishes by viewing them from the vehicle and not stopping. Tourism Kamloops calls the Cinnamon Ridge trail to volcanic hoodoos, from an eruption it dates to 50 million years ago, difficult, with steep climbs, loose gravel and little shade. Dallas-Barnhartvale Nature Park has a small parking area. The Kamloops Lake and hoodoos tour does not name its hoodoo site, so ask us in your quote request.
Tourism Kamloops says the run happens every fall from October to early November, at Tsútswecw Park about 40 minutes east of Kamloops. BC Parks says every fourth year is a dominant run with millions of fish and lists 2026 and 2030 as dominant years. The year after a dominant run is a sub-dominant run that often has substantial returns, and in all other years a small number of salmon return to spawn in the last three weeks of October. Tourism Kamloops listed the Salute to the Sockeye festival for October 2026. The Sun Peaks tour page says the Adams River stop depends on the season.
Sometimes. On 26 October 2026 the museum's site listed Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM and closure on statutory holidays, while the BC Wildlife Park's site showed weekends, Pro D days and stat days, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with no effective dates. On those published hours the two overlap only on Pro D days, and the park's hours in other seasons may differ. The heritage and wildlife tour page says exhibits follow opening hours and the driver-guide adjusts the visit, so give us your date in a quote request.
Sun Peaks lists its winter opening day as 21 November 2026, and the Kamloops Christmas Market runs 27 November to 6 December 2026, according to Tourism Kamloops. The BC Wildlife Park's ticket page promotes Wildlights without dates, and the Secwépemc Museum lists Monday to Friday hours. January averages a daily high of 0.4 °C and 18.9 cm of snow.
Entry rules apply when you enter Canada. IRCC says visa-exempt foreign nationals need an eTA to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport but not to arrive by car, bus, train or boat, and that US citizens are exempt from the eTA but must carry proper identification such as a valid US passport. Kamloops Airport lists only Canadian destinations (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Whitehorse), so check with your airline where you clear entry to Canada. These are the rules on an IRCC page dated 23 April 2024; check canada.ca before you travel.
Tourism Kamloops says it has no brick-and-mortar visitor centre. A seasonal pop-up Visitor Centre runs in Riverside Park from May through September, and pop-up booths appear at major events and attractions. Tourism Kamloops does not book experiences or accommodation, so contact the provider directly. Voyzo's Kamloops tours are quoted by email through the form on this page.

About
Kamloops sits where the North and South Thompson rivers meet. Tourism Kamloops says the name is an English interpretation of the Secwépemc word Tk'emlúps, meaning “where the rivers meet”, and the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc describe their own people, the Tk'emlúpsemc, as “the people of the confluence”. Tourism Kamloops describes the city as sitting on the traditional, unceded territory of the Secwépemc people. Some of the places on this page, such as the museum and the East Shuswap Road bluffs, sit on Secwépemc land, and the guidance each one gives visitors is repeated where it matters.
The Voyzo tours above are private day tours that collect you from your Kamloops hotel or accommodation. Each tour page lists what is included and what is not, and attraction admission tickets are listed as not included unless a page says otherwise; the museum and the wildlife park keep their own hours and fees, and the optional winery stop on the lake tour has tasting fees of its own. Tours in Kamloops are run by independent operators that Voyzo books for you.
