Kanarra Falls sits on Kanarra Creek just outside the town of Kanarraville, Utah — a genuinely separate site from Zion National Park itself, roughly 45 minutes to an hour from Zion's main entrance, and administered under its own town-issued permit system rather than the National Park Service's. Its slot-canyon scenery and red-rock geology are close cousins of what's found inside Zion's own boundary, which is part of why it's such a popular pairing with a Zion visit even though it sits outside the park.
The town of Kanarraville caps the trail at a real daily hiker limit and requires its own paid permit, separate from any Zion park pass, to help fund trail maintenance and the parking area — a practical, genuine reason this tour includes handling the permit for your group rather than leaving it to chance.
The hike itself follows Kanarra Creek upstream into a narrowing slot canyon, wading through sections of ankle-deep water toward two real waterfalls over its roughly 4-mile round trip. The lower and taller of the two falls requires climbing a genuine wooden ladder, about 15 feet high, bolted into the rock beside the cascade — the single most distinctive, talked-about feature of the trail.
