Yosemite's waterfalls are genuinely seasonal, and this tour is built around that reality rather than around a single postcard moment. Nearly all of the Sierra snowmelt that feeds falls like Yosemite Falls, Vernal Fall, and Nevada Fall peaks in spring — typically May into June — when the falls run at their fullest and loudest. By late summer, several thin out dramatically: Yosemite Falls is commonly reduced to a trickle or runs dry by August in a typical year, and Vernal Fall's spray narrows to a far more modest ribbon by autumn.
Bridalveil Fall is a partial exception, tending to carry at least some flow for more of the year than the others, though it too is at its fullest with spring runoff. Because flow genuinely varies this much by month — and by how heavy that winter's snowpack was — a private, customizable tour has a real advantage over a fixed-stop itinerary: your guide can prioritize whichever falls are actually running well at the time of your visit rather than following a set route that could end at a dry cliff face in September.
Vernal and Nevada Falls both sit along the Mist Trail, one of Yosemite's most-hiked routes, climbing from the Valley floor past both falls in succession — a genuinely demanding stretch with real, sustained elevation gain, not a flat stroll, which is part of why having a private guide who reads the group's pace matters on this particular route.
