The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is about 20 miles long and more than 1,000 feet deep. Its walls are the yellow, orange and rust of rock altered by hot water and steam, which is the likely source of the river's name. The Upper Falls drop about 109 feet and the Lower Falls about 308 feet.
A naturalist guide adds the part the signs only hint at: how the same heat that powers geysers has rotted and coloured the canyon rock, and why the thermal landscape is still changing. Fully customizable here means you can linger at overlooks, take a short walk, or head into other parts of the park for waterfalls and hidden spots.
Premium optics are included so wildlife seen along the way, from distant bison to birds near the river, becomes part of the day rather than a blur.
