A private helicopter charter for just your own group, flying past the Cheakamus Glacier's blue crevasses, Garibaldi Lake's turquoise waters, and the dramatic volcanic spire of Black Tusk.
Confirmed private: "Want something for just you and your group?" is how the operator describes it. The Black Tusk is one of the best known mountains in the Garibaldi Ranges of the Coast Mountains. At about 2,319 metres, it is a stratovolcano whose upper spire is a pinnacle of volcanic rock visible from the Sea-to-Sky Highway south of Whistler. It belongs to the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt, the northern end of the Cascade Arc, and the dark, jagged tower stands out sharply from the air.
Garibaldi Lake lies about 37 kilometres north of Squamish and 19 kilometres south of Whistler. Its colour comes from rock flour carried in by meltwater from the Sphinx and Sentinel glaciers, and from above the contrast between the lake and the surrounding rock is dramatic.
This route keeps the focus on the glaciers and spire rather than a landing, so it is a shorter, less weather-dependent alternative to a flight with a mountain stop.
