The Leonardo da Vinci Museum occupies the Scoletta, a building that's actually part of the same monumental San Rocco complex as the Scuola Grande di San Rocco nearby — so even a quick visit sits you inside a piece of real 15th-century Venetian architecture before you've seen a single exhibit.
Inside, the collection is built around working wooden models constructed directly from Leonardo's own notebook designs, known as the Codices — a bicycle, a car, a lathe, and dozens more inventions made physical and, in many cases, genuinely workable rather than left as sketches. The museum organizes everything into four themed sections — Earth, Water, Air, and Fire — alongside a room on his anatomical studies and backlit reproductions of his most important paintings.
From there, the tour continues on foot through San Polo, Venice's historic commercial heart, passing the Rialto Bridge and winding through streets that have changed surprisingly little since Leonardo's own era, with an optional detour to the Church of San Barnaba for those who want to linger a little longer.
