Viña Undurraga was founded in 1885 by Francisco Undurraga in Talagante, in the Maipo Valley, and is one of Chile's oldest wineries. Sources credit it as the first Chilean winery to export to the United States, sending a box to each of the 45 states in 1903.
The winery now farms about 1,700 hectares across Maipo, Rapel, Leyda and Maule and exports most of its production, which gives the visit a long-view sense of how Chilean wine reached world markets.
The Santiago city tour covers the capital's main sights first, making this a practical choice for cruise passengers who dock at Valparaíso or San Antonio and want one efficient day.
