Tofino's best-known photo backdrops are its beaches. Long Beach, in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, stretches about 16 km, while Chesterman Beach covers roughly 2.7 km and can be walked out to a tombolo at low tide, so the tide table often decides where a session works best.
The wider setting is Clayoquot Sound, recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve in January 2000. That designation reflects the mix of temperate rainforest, open Pacific surf, and wildlife, including whales, sea otters, and black bears, that frames every shot here.
Because the weather can swing from fog to bright sun within an hour, a one-hour session is best planned around light and tide, and your photographer can steer you to the beach that suits both.
