La Bufadora, south of Ensenada, is a marine blowhole where waves force water up through a notch in the rock. Sources describe jets that can reach around 30 metres, though that depends on swell and tide and is not guaranteed.
Bodegas de Santo Tomás traces its commercial winery to 1888, when the former Santo Tomás Mission lands were sold to a private group; it is described as the earliest winery in continuous operation in the region. Puerto Nuevo, further north, grew from a 1950s fishing village into the lobster destination known for Puerto Nuevo-style lobster.
