About This Tour

A private hiking tour for your group only, genuinely tailored to your fitness level — real crowd-free lookouts, waterfalls, and canyons. This is a private tour for your group only, with a real hiking route genuinely tailored to your group's fitness level. Real crowd-free lookouts, waterfalls, and canyons replace the standard tourist stops.

The dramatic terrain this hike moves through — sheer cliffs, deep canyons and waterfalls cutting through sandstone plateaus — was shaped over an immense span of geological time. The sandstone was deposited in layers as the Sydney Basin formed during the Permian and Triassic periods, roughly 230 to 290 million years ago, then eroded over about 200 million years by wind, rain and rivers working along natural weaknesses in the rock, carving the escarpments, valleys and freestanding formations hikers see on the trail today.

That same landscape earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2000, when the Greater Blue Mountains Area — more than one million hectares of sandstone plateau, canyon and forest — was recognised for its exceptional diversity of eucalypt species and habitats. It's a large enough World Heritage area that no single fixed route can cover the full range of hiking terrain on offer, from easy forest boardwalks to genuinely demanding ridge and canyon sections.

That's the real reason this tour is built around a customizable route rather than one fixed path: the itinerary is genuinely adjusted to match your group's fitness level and interests on the day, so a family with young children and a group of experienced hikers end up walking very different trails within the same World Heritage area, reaching lookouts, waterfalls and canyon sections most standard coach-tour itineraries never visit.
