About This Tour
A private half-day trip to São Roque, the wine-producing region just outside São Paulo, with tastings at local wineries and views over the hillside vineyards. São Roque is roughly 69 kilometres by road from São Paulo, around 51 km in a straight line, and was founded on 16 August 1657. Winemaking there is traced back to Portuguese settlers who saw the climate's potential, and later to a large wave of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century who developed viticulture.
The area's Wine Route follows the Estrada do Vinho, Estrada dos Venâncios and the Quintino de Lima highway, with more than 30 establishments including wineries, restaurants and farms. The tour's wineries are chosen by your driver based on the day, so ask which ones are open.
Some producers here make jabuticaba wine, a fruit wine from a native Brazilian fruit, so the region is not only grape wine. Tastings and quality vary between estates.
