About This Tour
A relaxed private boat tour to some of Santa Marta's best beaches, with hotel pickup and drop-off, reaching secluded coves away from the city's crowded public beaches. This private boat tour is built for a full, unhurried day on the water, reaching secluded coves that aren't accessible from the city's main public beaches. With the boat reserved just for your group, you can swim away from the crowds and set your own pace for the day.
Santa Marta's own city beaches are convenient but busy, which is exactly why a boat changes the day. The coastline north and east of the bay is cut by rocky headlands and small coves that are easiest to reach from the water, and a reserved boat lets you pick time in each rather than following a fixed shuttle schedule.
Much of that coast belongs to or borders Tayrona National Park, created on 24 April 1964 and protecting roughly 150 km2 of land plus about 30 km2 of sea. Within the park, access and rules are set with the Indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada, so your captain will tell you which stops are open on the day.
Sea conditions govern a long boat day. Mornings are generally calmer than afternoons on this coast, so an early start usually gives the smoothest ride to the farther coves.
