Laguna Cejar lies in the Salar de Atacama about 20 kilometres from San Pedro. Its brine is so concentrated that bathers float, often compared with the Dead Sea, though local operators sometimes claim it is even saltier; treat such comparisons as approximate.
The Ojos del Salar are two nearly circular freshwater pools in the middle of the salt desert, whose name means eyes of the salt flat. Tebinquiche (also spelled Tebenquiche) has salt-crusted shores that reflect the sky and volcanoes, especially in late light.
