A private wildlife safari on Antelope Island, led by a former Africa safari guide.
Explore Antelope Island State Park's free-roaming bison herd, pronghorn, and shoreline with your own private guide and former African safari leader — no other travelers along, and a flexible pace built around what you want to see.
This is a private tour/activity reserved for your group only, run by Safari Utah and led by a guide who previously worked as an African safari guide. The pace is flexible, so extra time can go toward wildlife-watching, photography, birding, or a short hike to Buffalo Point depending on what your group wants to see.
A popular starting point — every Voyzo itinerary is fully customizable, so we'll shape the order and stops around your group.
Pickup can be arranged from your Salt Lake City hotel or the airport on request; the tour also has a set meeting point near Liberty Park.
Drive the island's open range in search of its free-roaming bison herd, along with pronghorn antelope and mule deer.
An optional short hike to one of the island's best panoramic viewpoints over the Great Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains.
Your guide's background in African safaris and ecology shapes real, flexible stops around wildlife, birding, and photography.
Back to your hotel, home, or the airport — whenever your day wraps up.

Antelope Island's bison have an unusual origin story. In 1893 a herd of just 12 animals was brought to the island, at a time when fewer than 1,000 bison were left in all of North America. Today the herd numbers roughly 600 animals, making it one of the oldest publicly owned bison herds in the United States, and the animals roam freely across the island's grassland.
That history is why a wildlife drive here feels different from a typical park visit. Bison, pronghorn and mule deer share open range on an island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake, and a guide with a safari-leading background tends to read the landscape accordingly, pausing for behaviour, birds and light rather than rushing between viewpoints.
The optional walk to Buffalo Point adds a high vantage over the lake and the Wasatch front. Because the route and pace are set around your group, this works equally well for a photographer who wants long stops or a family that mostly wants to spot animals from the vehicle.
