The Lizzie McGuire Movie is a real piece of early-2000s Disney history with a genuine Rome production behind it. The film was shot on location in the city in the fall of 2002, ahead of its May 2, 2003 release, with Hilary Duff's graduation-trip plot built around actual Roman landmarks rather than a soundstage standing in for Italy. Confirmed filming locations used in the movie include the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Colosseum, each appearing on screen more or less as it looks in person today.
The Vespa itself is a genuinely separate piece of Rome's pop-culture legacy from the film. The scooter's own iconic status on screen traces back further, to Audrey Hepburn's 1953 ride through the city in Roman Holiday, decades before a Disney Channel star ever set foot here. This tour borrows the Lizzie McGuire name and early-2000s era as a fun hook for the ride rather than retracing a single confirmed movie scene — there's no independently verified record of exactly which street or piazza any specific Vespa sequence in the film was shot on, so the theme is best treated as a nostalgic frame for the day rather than a scene-by-scene recreation.
What's genuinely included regardless of the theme is professional photography: 20 photos taken of you riding through the city, a practical add-on that turns the novelty of the scooter itself into something you actually take home, alongside a ride past, or near, the same real piazzas the film used as its backdrop.
