About This Tour

A private tour for your group only, in a genuine chauffeured limousine, to the real Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. This is a private tour for your group only, in a genuine chauffeured limousine. Real stops include Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello — the genuine Amalfi Coast.

Long before it was a coastline of postcard towns, Amalfi itself was the capital of an independent maritime republic that controlled a real slice of Mediterranean trade between roughly 839 and 1200 AD, holding a monopoly on Tyrrhenian Sea commerce and trading Italian goods east for spices, pearls, textiles and perfume. Its power faded after the rival Republic of Pisa sacked the town in 1137, but the coastline it left behind — UNESCO-listed as a cultural landscape since 1997 — is still studded with towns that trace back to that trading era.

Positano, smaller and more vertical than Amalfi, has long attracted writers and artists drawn to its cliffside stack of pastel houses; Ravello sits higher still, roughly 366 meters above the sea, and has survived barbarian invasions, feuding noble families and earthquakes since its founding in the 5th century, with the gardens of Villa Rufolo among its best-known survivors from that era.

Covering Positano, Amalfi and Ravello from Rome in a single day is a genuinely long drive along narrow coastal roads, which is exactly why this trip runs in a chauffeured limousine rather than a standard vehicle — letting the group sit back for the distance instead of navigating it.
