A personal divemaster for you and a dive buddy — a genuinely private dive on the Mesoamerican Reef, for certified divers.
For certified divers only: a personal divemaster leads a one-tank dive along Roatán's reef, for you and a dive buddy alone rather than a boat full of strangers, with local fruit and water included and private transportation to and from the dive site.
Roatán's dive industry is overwhelmingly boat-based and shared among a dive shop's guests for the day — this is one of the few genuinely private dive products on the island, with a divemaster dedicated to just you and a dive buddy.

A PADI Divemaster — the role your guide on this dive holds — is the highest rung of recreational scuba diving before someone moves into teaching, and it's earned through a genuinely demanding process, not a short add-on course. Candidates need to already hold Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue Diver certifications, plus CPR and first-aid training completed within the past two years, and must log a minimum of 40 dives just to begin the Divemaster course and 60 to complete it. The training itself covers dive physics and physiology, decompression theory, equipment handling, and dive planning, and candidates have to demonstrate all 24 required diving skills to a professional standard in a single evaluated session before they're certified. In practice, that means the person leading this dive has logged far more time underwater, and been tested on far more than, the certification you yourself needed to book this tour.
Roatán earned its reputation as one of the world's premier diving destinations because of what's directly offshore: it sits on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second-largest reef system on the planet, and the island's position along an active tectonic boundary has carved dramatic wall dives close to shore that most Caribbean islands don't have — fissures, swim-throughs, and sheer drop-offs formed by the same geological forces that shaped the Bay Islands themselves. Visibility around the island typically runs 60 to 100 feet or more year-round, and the marine park maintains roughly 90 mooring buoys across more than 70 named dive sites split between the island's north and south coasts, giving divers an unusually wide range of real terrain to choose from.
Most dives sold on Roatán are run the way the island's dive industry is built: a dive boat takes out a full roster of a shop's guests for the day, and a divemaster supervises the group as a whole rather than any one diver specifically. This tour inverts that — a divemaster whose only job that dive is watching you and one buddy, with private transportation to the site built around your schedule rather than a boat's departure time.
