Roatán's interior is a different island entirely from its coastline — roughly 30 acres of the route run through genuinely lush, undeveloped jungle terrain, with natural dirt trails that turn muddy and pothole-pocked after rain, which is part of the appeal rather than a drawback on an ATV built for exactly this kind of ground.
The jungle habitat supports real wildlife along the way, including white-faced capuchin monkeys, sloths, and a range of tropical bird species. In places, mangrove forests line the banks of the trail system and form natural tunnels through the tree canopy overhead — a genuinely different ecosystem from the beach-club scenery most Roatán tours stick to.
The route then shifts into the island's small-business side: a stop at a local chocolate factory that walks through the bean-to-bar process behind both dark and white chocolate, paired with a rum and rum-cake tasting at a nearby producer — two of Roatán's better-known small manufacturers, both set up specifically for visitor tastings.
The day finishes at West Bay Beach, widely regarded as one of the finest white-sand beaches in the Caribbean and Central America, a calm, clear stretch that makes a natural wind-down after several hours on rougher trails.
