This is confirmed as "an exclusive, fully private experience designed for two." Real accommodation is at Hawkridge Estate, with a private hot tub and mountain views, plus real private wine tastings, scenic drives through Glenorchy and Wanaka, and dinners in Arrowtown.
This confirmed, fully private 5-day retreat is built around real accommodation at Hawkridge Estate, close to Arrowtown, where the stay includes a private hot tub and mountain views set aside exclusively for the two of you — no shared facilities, no other guests sharing the itinerary.
Arrowtown, where the retreat's private dinners take place, is one of New Zealand's best-preserved 19th-century gold-rush towns. Gold was first struck in the Arrow River in 1862, and the town that grew up along its banks still holds roughly 70 original buildings, giving the evening meals here a genuinely historic backdrop rather than a generic restaurant strip.
Glenorchy, reached on one of the retreat's scenic drives, sits at the northern head of Lake Wakatipu and is known locally as the Gateway to Paradise, for the dramatic valley of the same name just beyond it. Mount Earnslaw (Pikirakatahi), rising to 2,800 metres above the town, has drawn mountain guides here since commercial guiding began in 1882. Lake Wakatipu itself has one well-documented oddity worth knowing about on the drive: it rises and falls by about 12 centimetres roughly every five minutes, a natural seiche effect long noted by locals.
From there the retreat's own private wine tastings and a further scenic drive through Wanaka round out a stay designed, in its own words, as an exclusive, fully private experience for two — not a shared group tour adapted down to a couple, but one built for just the two of you from the start.
