Puerto Vallarta's Old Town — the Zona Romántica, on the south bank of the Río Cuale — has a genuinely photogenic streetscape of whitewashed stucco buildings and orange-tiled roofs along simple cobblestone streets, but it's worth being accurate about its age: Puerto Vallarta itself wasn't founded until 1851, as a small salt-trading settlement called Las Peñas de Santa María de Guadalupe, well after Mexico's colonial period had ended with independence in 1821. So the Old Town's look is a colonial-style aesthetic the town adopted, rather than genuine 16th-to-18th-century colonial architecture of the kind found in older inland cities like Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende. What it does have is real, protected status — the district is now officially recognized as a Jalisco state Cultural Heritage area specifically to preserve that cobblestone, low-rise character against further development.
Playa Los Muertos, immediately adjacent to the Zona Romántica, gives the session a completely different visual register from the Old Town streets and the Malecón boardwalk — open beach, ocean horizon, and the city's pier rather than architecture and cobblestone — so a session built around both locations genuinely covers two distinct real backdrops rather than two angles on the same scene.
Since this is a one-on-one private session with a photographer rather than a shared group shoot, the full hour is built around your group's own shots, whether that's a couple working through a list of romantic poses or a family simply wanting a relaxed, candid set from a real afternoon in Puerto Vallarta.
