This route tackles the same hilly Prague terrain as the city's e-bike tours, but it's built around one specific real destination at the top of the climb: the Strahov Monastic Brewery, a working brewery with roots stretching back to the monastery's own medieval kitchens. The earliest written record of brewing at Strahov dates to 1400, when the brewery was leased out for an annual rent paid partly in beer, partly in pepper, and partly in a fattened hare. A dedicated brewery building operated continuously from 1628 until 1907, when it finally closed and was converted into apartments in 1919.
It sat dormant for the better part of a century before being rebuilt from the ground up starting in 2000. The first new batch was brewed in June 2001, deliberately timed to the feast day of Saint Norbert, the founder of the Premonstratensian order that has run Strahov Monastery since 1143 — a detail that ties the modern microbrewery directly back to the monks who first brewed on this spot six centuries earlier.
Reaching it on a Segway rather than on foot matters here specifically because Strahov sits even higher than the Castle District itself, on a hill above Prague Castle's own hill — making the climb from Charles Bridge through the Střešovice area up to the monastery and brewery a genuinely steep one that a Segway covers far more comfortably than a walk.
