About This Tour

A private tour for your group only, led by Mike, a real named guide, with 3 genuine itinerary options to Český Krumlov. This is a private tour for your group only, led by Mike, a real named guide. Three genuine itinerary options are offered for the day trip to Český Krumlov.

Český Krumlov's old town and castle complex have been a single UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, and walking through it, it's easy to see why: the whole historic core curls around a tight bend in the Vltava River, with the castle rising above it on a rocky spur, largely unchanged in layout since the medieval period. The castle itself dates back to the 13th century — the first written mention comes from 1253, built originally by Count Vítek of Krumlov — which makes it, along with the town below, one of the best-preserved medieval and Renaissance townscapes anywhere in Central Europe.

What followed that founding is a genuine architectural layering across five centuries: the Rosenberg family, who took over the estate in 1302, expanded the castle through the 14th century and gave it a major Renaissance rebuild in the 16th; later owners, the Eggenberg and then Schwarzenberg families, added Baroque, Rococo, and Empire-style interiors on top. Today the complex runs to 40 separate structures across five courtyards — second in scale in the whole Czech Republic only to Prague Castle itself.

Having three real itinerary options for the day means the pace and focus can actually match what your group wants to see, rather than forcing everyone through one fixed route — whether that's more time in the castle grounds, more time wandering the old town's narrow lanes and riverside paths, or a mix of both.
