Pravčická brána, the centrepiece of this all-inclusive day trip, is the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe, a 26.5-metre span with an interior height of 16 metres, carved entirely by natural erosion rather than any human hand, sitting about three kilometres northeast of the village of Hřensko inside Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The site has drawn visitors since at least 1826, when an inn was built beside it, and in 1881 the powerful Austro-Hungarian Clary-Aldringen family added a small chateau built directly into the rock face beneath the arch, nicknamed Sokolí hnízdo, or "Falcon's Nest." Film audiences may recognize the arch without knowing its real name — it served as the entrance to Narnia in the first Chronicles of Narnia movie.
The tour also reaches the Bastei Bridge on the German side of the border, inside the linked Saxon Switzerland National Park. Together the two parks form one binational sandstone landscape straddling the Czech-German frontier, protected on both sides.
Near the Bastei, the ruins known locally as Neurathen Castle were once the region's largest rock-built fortress, with living spaces and passages carved directly into the sandstone — what survives today is mostly rock-cut rooms, cisterns, and the sockets that once held a wooden superstructure. Independent sources date the fortress's origins to the first half of the 13th century, with the site finally abandoned around 1485 after fighting between Bohemian and Saxon forces, rather than the 14th century sometimes quoted elsewhere. A genuine boat ride, lunch, and all admissions are included in this trip, consistent with its all-inclusive format.
