Sport fishing isn't a recent add-on at Puerto Aventuras — it's close to the marina's origin. In the 1990s, a group of sport-fishing enthusiasts were among those who broke ground on what became Puerto Aventuras, at the time a small marina with room for only a few dozen boats. It's since grown into the only full-service marina between Cancún and Belize, but the fishing heritage that built it is still very much part of what the marina does today.
The waters off this stretch of the Riviera Maya are a genuine, well-documented sportfishing ground. Sailfish run here year-round with the strongest action typically in April and May; mahi-mahi (dorado) peak from late spring into late summer; and wahoo are usually most active in the cooler months, roughly November through February. Depending on the season, crews working this coast also come across blue and white marlin, jack crevalle, and snapper, though as with any fishing trip, what's actually running on a given day depends on conditions, not a guarantee.
This charter puts a captain and crew to work exclusively for your own group, not a shared party boat where you're one of several anglers splitting a boat with strangers. Rods and tackle are provided, and the full six hours out on the water are built around your group's own pace, whether that means working one spot hard or covering more ground to chase whatever's biting.
