Maiden Peak sits on Grand Ridge, described as the highest continuous trail in the Olympic Mountains, in the drier northeast of the park rather than the rainforest side. The pavement on Deer Park Road ends at the park boundary, so reaching the trailhead takes some patience.
Sources give Maiden Peak's summit as roughly 6,400 feet, with the Grand Ridge route offering views of Obstruction Peak, Elk Mountain, Green Mountain and Mount Olympus. On a clear day the horizon includes the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island.
This is alpine terrain with changeable weather, and your guide chooses the pace to suit the group.
