About This Tour

A private, exclusive-vessel boat tour for your group only, cruising the genuine coastline of Villefranche and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This is a genuinely private, exclusive-vessel boat tour. Real coastline along Villefranche and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is cruised.

Villefranche-sur-Mer's bay is a genuine maritime rarity: at around 320 feet (98 meters) deep in places, it's one of the deepest natural harbors on the entire Mediterranean coast, with an undersea canyon extending further out to sea. That real depth and shelter from easterly winds is exactly why fleets have used it for millennia — Greek and later Roman ships stopped here en route to settlements further west, and after the Crimean War in 1856 the bay became a supply base for the Russian Imperial Navy, a role it kept until the First World War.

More recently still, Villefranche served as the home port of the US 6th Fleet from the end of the Second World War until 1966 — a real, well-documented chapter of naval history playing out in the same calm waters your private boat cruises today.

From the water, the route continues toward Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the narrow, pine-covered peninsula that became a favorite address of European aristocracy and wealthy industrialists in the early 20th century, its coastline still lined with the grand private estates built during that era.

Since the vessel is exclusively chartered for your own group, there's no fixed itinerary to stick to — your captain can linger along either shoreline for as long as the view holds your attention.
