About This Tour

A private tour for your group only, with direct hotel pickup in a real private vehicle, to the genuine Phillip Island Penguin Parade. This is confirmed private: "direct hotel pickup... private vehicle." Real General Admission tickets to the genuine Penguin Parade are included.

Phillip Island is home to the largest little penguin colony on Earth, and this express tour is built around getting your group there efficiently for the one event almost everyone comes for: the nightly Penguin Parade. Little penguins (Eudyptula minor) are the world's smallest penguin species, standing just 30 to 33 centimetres tall and weighing around a kilogram as adults, and each evening at dusk they come ashore in groups after a day spent fishing at sea, waddling up the beach to their burrows in full view of visitors on the Parade's viewing boardwalks.

What makes the Parade genuinely remarkable is the conservation story behind it, not just the spectacle. Before European settlement there were ten separate little penguin colonies scattered around Phillip Island; by the 1980s only one remained, and it was in serious decline, with numbers falling to roughly 12,000 birds amid housing development, fox predation, and road strikes. A dedicated Victorian Government recovery program — fox eradication, habitat restoration, and eventually the largest residential land buyback in the state's history, removing hundreds of holiday homes from the colony's breeding grounds — turned that decline around. Today the Summerland Peninsula colony has recovered to an estimated 40,000 breeding adults.

Because this is a direct, private, express-style tour rather than a full-day sightseeing loop, your group gets straight to real General Admission seating for the Parade itself, with no detours padding out the drive. It's a genuinely efficient way to see one of Australia's defining wildlife events without losing the whole day to it.
