About This Tour

A private day trip combining Guatape's Rock of El Penol and colorful zocalo-lined streets with a visit to a working coffee farm, where you'll learn the traditions behind the region's flooded history and its coffee. This private tour stacks two of Antioquia's best day-trip experiences into one stress-free outing: Guatape's rock climb and colorful streets, then a real coffee farm where you'll learn the actual growing and brewing process from bean to cup.

Guatapé's story starts with the reservoir. The Peñol-Guatapé dam flooded the valley in the 1970s, and the original town of El Peñol was moved to higher ground. Today the reservoir is a lake district of islands and inlets, and its edge is where Guatapé's pastel streets, with their zócalo panels, sit.

The coffee farm visit adds Antioquia's longer story. Coffee helped drive the region's economy in the early twentieth century, and the farm walk shows the process from cherry to roast, ending with a cup tasted in the place it was grown.

Pairing the two gives you both the dramatic landscape and a taste of the rural work behind a daily staple.
