About This Tour
A private tour contrasting Medellin's urban core with its natural surroundings: a guided walk through the Botanical Garden downtown, then a Metrocable ride up to the forest trails of Parque Arvi. This tour is built around genuine contrast: Medellin's downtown Botanical Garden, a green oasis in the city center, followed by a cable-car ride up into the cloud forest of Parque Arvi. Your guide adds historical context on downtown landmarks along the way.
The Joaquín Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden was inaugurated on 19 April 1972, timed with the VII World Orchid Conference held in Medellín. Its centrepiece, the Orquideorama, is a wood-and-steel structure by Plan B Architects, built during the garden's major renewal in the mid-2000s.
The garden is free to enter and sits close to downtown, so it is a calm start before the cable-car ride up to Parque Arví, a much larger forest reserve on the valley's eastern slope.
Seeing the garden first makes the contrast clearer: a curated city oasis, then a wilder landscape above it.
