About This Tour

A private running tour combining sightseeing in central Madrid and Retiro Park with a genuine workout, choosing your own stops along the route. Run with your guide as they showcase local landmarks, share a bit of the city's history, and point out places for food and drinks, choosing where you stop along the route to see attractions and take photos.

Retiro Park's most striking landmark, the Monument to Alfonso XII, opened on June 6, 1922, and it's genuinely massive: designed by architect José Grases Riera in marble and bronze, the colonnade stretches 86 metres long, 58 metres wide, and 30 metres high along the eastern edge of the park's lake, centred on an equestrian statue of the king. Running past it at ground level gives you a real sense of its scale that's easy to miss in photos.

The park itself is large enough to make a genuine running route rather than a few loops of a small green space — it covers somewhere over 118 hectares depending on exactly how the boundary is drawn, and is home to more than 15,000 trees, including Madrid's oldest tree, which dates back to the 17th century. That's real distance and real variety of scenery to work with, not a token city park.

Combining that terrain with central Madrid's own streets and landmarks turns the run into a genuine way to see the city rather than just exercise with a backdrop — your guide sets a pace to match your fitness level and still has room to point out where to stop for photos, food, or a drink along the way.
