About This Tour
A private tour for your group only — genuine London sightseeing combined with a real, active running route. This is a private tour for your group only, combining genuine London sightseeing with a real, active running route — a distinctive way to see the city.
Hyde Park, at roughly 350 acres, is a genuine Royal Park with a history stretching back to 1536, when Henry VIII took the land from Westminster Abbey to use as a private hunting ground. It wasn't opened to the public until the early 17th century, and it remained an active deer-hunting ground as late as 1768.
The park hosted the Great Exhibition of 1851, for which Joseph Paxton designed the Crystal Palace — a structure that, for a few months, stood right where runners pass through today. The park is also split by the Serpentine and Long Water lakes, created in 1728 when Queen Caroline divided it from what's now Kensington Gardens.
Speakers' Corner, inside the park, remains a real, still-active site of free expression and historic demonstrations — meaning a running route through here isn't just scenic, it's crossing ground that's carried centuries of both royal history and public protest.
