London's royal parks form a genuinely connected green corridor — running from Kensington Palace through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, via Hyde Park Corner and Green Park, past Buckingham Palace to St James's Park — much of which can be covered on two wheels without ever crossing a main road.
Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens were originally one single park. They were only split in 1728, when Queen Caroline had the Serpentine and Long Water lakes dug to divide them — which is why families cycling through today pass through two genuinely different landscapes within the same ride, only minutes apart.
