About This Tour
A private tour for your group only, aboard a real classic Mini Cooper — a genuine, iconic British vehicle. This is a private tour for your group only, aboard a real classic Mini Cooper, a genuine iconic British vehicle. A real half-day format allows comprehensive London coverage.
The Mini was launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation, designed by Alec Issigonis largely in response to the Suez Crisis-driven push for smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. It became an unlikely icon almost immediately, especially in the "Swinging London" of the 1960s.
The performance version most people picture, the Mini Cooper, arrived in 1961 — created by John Cooper of the Cooper Car Company, with a 997cc engine, twin carburetors, and disc brakes, launched at a price of £680. The faster Cooper S followed in 1963–64 and went on to win the Monte Carlo Rally outright in 1964, 1965, and 1967.
The classic Mini stayed in production, largely unchanged in spirit, right up until 2000 — more than 40 years after it first appeared, making a half-day tour in one less a novelty ride and more a genuine piece of 20th-century British motoring history.
