About This Tour
A private tour for your group only, riding in a real motorcycle sidecar through Lisbon. This is a private tour for your group only, riding in a genuine motorcycle sidecar — a real, distinctive way to see Lisbon.
Lisbon is famously nicknamed "the city of seven hills," though the real story behind that name is more legend than precise geography. A 17th-century friar, Nicolau de Oliveira, is credited with first writing that Lisbon was built on seven hills visible from the Tagus — naming São Jorge, São Vicente, São Roque, Santo André, Santa Catarina, Chagas, and Santa Ana. In reality, Lisbon spans considerably more than seven hills (the Graça hill, for one, was conveniently left off the original list), but the "seven hills" nickname has stuck regardless, much like Rome's.
What those real hills mean in practice is a city built on steep inclines, winding staircases, and narrow streets — the same geography that led Lisbon to introduce its now-iconic electric trams in 1901, many of them imported from the United States and still in use precisely because their compact size suits those tight, sloped streets.
A vintage motorcycle sidecar is a different, more open-air answer to that same challenge — genuinely able to weave into corners and up inclines a larger vehicle can't, with nothing between you and the view. This tour keeps that experience private, just your own group riding through the city's real hills and landmarks together.
