About This Tour

A private sailing charter for your group only, with real wine and snacks, sailing the genuine Tagus River at sunset. This is a private sailing charter for your group only, with genuine wine and snacks, on the real Tagus River at sunset.

The bridge your sailboat glides beneath — the 25 de Abril Bridge — has one of the more dramatic name changes of any landmark in Europe. It was inaugurated on 6 August 1966 as the Ponte Salazar, named for Portuguese dictator António de Oliveira Salazar, who ordered its construction. After the Carnation Revolution of 25 April 1974 toppled the remnants of his regime, citizens climbed the bridge's pillars and physically removed the large brass letters spelling "Salazar," replacing them with a hand-painted "25 de Abril" — the date that has stuck as the bridge's official name ever since.

The Tagus itself is Portugal's longest river, and at Lisbon it widens into one of the broadest natural river mouths in Western Europe — wide and calm enough that sailing here feels closer to open water than a typical city river crossing. That scale is exactly what makes a sunset sail here so striking: the sun drops behind the bridge's steel towers and the Almada skyline across the water, with Lisbon's own hillside of red rooftops catching the last light on the opposite bank.

This tour keeps that setting entirely private — it's your group's own sailboat, with real wine and snacks served on board, timed to put you on the water as the golden hour actually happens rather than on a fixed departure that might miss it.
