La Victoria Coffee Farm is reported to have been founded in 1892 and to still operate with original machinery, which makes it one of the few places where you can see how coffee was processed over a century ago alongside how it is made today. The company is reported to grow arabica over roughly 217 hectares.
Minca's altitude, about 650 m in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, gives a cooler climate suited to shade-grown coffee. The Sierra Nevada is a UNESCO biosphere reserve (1979) with an unusual range of habitats packed into a short distance from the sea.
Pozo Azul is typically described as a pool-fed waterfall with refreshing water, and Marinka as a two-tiered cascade where visitors swim. Going to Pozo Azul first, as this tour does, usually means the quieter pools.
