About This Tour

A private 2-day, 1-night version of the Copacabana and Isla del Sol trip, with an overnight by the lake so you're not rushing the return drive to La Paz the same day.

Staying overnight changes how Isla del Sol feels. The island's Inca-era origin story, in which Manco Capac emerged from the Titi Qala rock, is a legend recorded by the chronicler Bernabe Cobo, and the lake and island are far quieter once day boats have gone. Copacabana's basilica, completed in 1805, houses an image carved around 1576.

Lake Titicaca lies at about 3,812 metres and is the highest commercially navigable lake in the world. At that altitude the evening and early morning light shifts quickly, which is the main reason an overnight is worth it.

The second day is deliberately slow. Copacabana has been a pilgrimage town for centuries, and the Virgin's feast days still draw large crowds, so the quiet mornings are in contrast with the busy festival calendar.
