About This Tour
A private driver and walking guide combine Old Havana's colonial squares with Fusterlandia, the artist José Fuster's mosaic-covered fishing neighborhood, on one exclusive day. This operator describes itself as a private, exclusive, and secure day-tour company — the drive and walk below are combined into one exclusive outing for your own group, not a shared bus route.
Fusterlandia is the work of artist José Fuster, who moved to the Jaimanitas fishing neighbourhood in 1975 and began decorating his own house with mosaics in 1994. Over the years he has transformed more than 80 neighbours' houses, adding a chess park with giant boards, an Artists' Wall of signed tiles and public pools, in a style often compared to Gaudí. He has been nicknamed the Picasso of the Caribbean.
Old Havana forms the other half of the day. Founded in 1519 and listed by UNESCO in 1982, its plazas and restored buildings are best explored on foot, where a guide can point out details you would miss from a car.
Together the two places show Havana's formal colonial past alongside its present-day folk art.
