About This Tour
A fully private, flexible 5-10 hour day reaching Rancho Los 3 Potrillos (the ranch of ranchera music icon Vicente Fernández), Lake Chapala, Tlaquepaque, and a Tonalá museum visit. 100% private and flexible, with no fixed groups and no crowds — you control the pace at every stop. Vicente Fernández, the ranchera singer, was born in Guadalajara on 17 February 1940 and died on 12 December 2021. He built a 500-hectare ranch near the city in 1980 and named it Los Tres Potrillos in honour of his three sons; it is also where he is buried.
The tour pairs that stop with Lake Chapala, which is Mexico's largest freshwater lake, roughly 80 kilometres east to west and 18 north to south. The size of the water is easiest to appreciate from the shore, where the towns seem small beside it.
The craft stops add a third layer. Tonalá has a museum devoted to Tastoanes masks, so ask your guide which collection you will see, since the better-known national mask museum is in San Luis Potosí rather than here.
