The Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat (Oncorhynchus clarkii behnkei) is a subspecies native to the Snake River and its drainage, known for smaller, more numerous spots than other cutthroats, often compared to pepper sprinkled across the body. Among the intermountain cutthroat subspecies it is considered to be in comparatively good shape, still dominating much of its native range.
The fish is thought to have diverged from Yellowstone cutthroat after the last Ice Age, though the two are genetically very close. Within Grand Teton National Park the Snake River has catch-and-release regulations for native cutthroat, so expect to photograph and release your fish.
A drift boat lets the guide cover long stretches of river and position you at runs and banks that are hard to reach on foot. A Wyoming fishing license is required for all public waters and is generally purchased separately from a guided trip, so confirm that with your Voyzo advisor before the day.
