The T.A. Moulton Barn is the best known structure on Mormon Row. Thomas Alma Moulton and his brother John homesteaded here in 1908, and the barn was built up by Thomas and his sons over about three decades, roughly 1912 to 1945. With the Tetons behind it, it has become one of the symbols of Jackson Hole.
Oxbow Bend, on the Snake River, is a river meander cut off from the main channel; it often mirrors Mount Moran and attracts moose, pelicans and other waterbirds, especially toward evening. Jenny Lake, impounded by a glacial moraine about 12,000 years ago, is named for the Shoshone woman Jenny, who married Richard "Beaver Dick" Leigh in 1863.
Afternoon-to-evening timing means the stops are visited as the light softens and wildlife becomes more active, and dinner is served as the day cools. The park's wildlife rules apply throughout: 100 yards from bears and wolves, 25 yards from other animals.
