A flexible day lets you follow whichever of the park's stories interests you most. For human history, the Mormon Row homesteads, settled in the late 1890s by families who shared labor across 27 homesteads and dug irrigation ditches from the Gros Ventre River, are a natural stop.
For geology, the Teton Range is among the youngest in the Rockies, uplifted along the Teton Fault, yet its base rocks are about 2.7 billion years old. Glacial moraines hold in Jenny Lake and other lakes, and Jackson Lake's level is controlled by a dam completed in 1916.
For wildlife, the park supports moose, elk, bison, pronghorn and bears, with a pronghorn herd making a roughly 150-mile seasonal migration. With no set itinerary your guide can shift between these themes as sightings and weather dictate.
