The Flathead River system was designated a Wild and Scenic River in 1976, covering the North Fork from the Canadian border, the entire Middle Fork, and the South Fork above Hungry Horse Reservoir. Fisheries are one of the values the designation lists.
The boundary matters for your day: the North Fork's centerline and the Middle Fork's mean high water line mark the edge of Glacier National Park and the Flathead National Forest, so you fish water that runs along the park's edge.
