French Creek lies about 5 km north of Parksville, where the creek enters the Strait of Georgia. Its marina and public boat launch, next to the federal dock and the Lasqueti Island ferry, make it a long-standing departure point for anglers.
The Strait of Georgia is known for salmon, halibut and cod. Chinook and coho move through on seasonal migrations, and spring and early summer are generally described as the best time to target large chinook, while fall brings a run at the mouth of French Creek itself.
Salmon declines have caused closures for some species in recent years, so your captain will explain what can be kept on your day and where the fish are likely to be.
