Frequently Asked Questions

The first five days are spent in El Salvador (San Salvador, Suchitoto, the Ruta de las Flores, and Santa Ana Volcano), and the remaining five days are in Honduras (the Copán Ruins, Macaw Mountain, and Roatán Island) — every night's hotel is confirmed in whichever country you're actually in that day.
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua operate under the CA-4 border agreement, so most travelers who can enter El Salvador can cross into Honduras on this route without a separate visa — check current requirements for your nationality before booking.
The route begins in San Salvador and ends on Roatán Island in Honduras, so flights should be booked open-jaw (into San Salvador, home from Roatán) rather than as a round trip.
It's one of the longer transfer days on the route, crossing from western El Salvador into western Honduras, which is why the border crossing and Copán visit are paired together rather than rushed on the same day as the volcano hike.
Once your quote is accepted, we'll confirm your exact pickup time, vehicle, and driver details by email ahead of your tour date.

A 10-day private route by exclusive car linking El Salvador's colonial towns, coffee country, and Santa Ana Volcano with the Copán Ruins in Honduras and a final stretch on Roatán Island. Santa Ana Volcano, called Ilamatepec, is El Salvador's highest volcano at about 2,381 meters, with a broad summit of concentric craters; it erupted in October 2005, and some sources cite 1904 as an earlier eruption. Suchitoto is a hilltop colonial town whose name in Nahuatl is usually translated as place of flowers and birds, overlooking Lake Suchitlán, the reservoir created in the 1970s by the Cerrón Grande dam.

Across the border, the Copán Valley was inscribed by UNESCO in 1980, and the site is one of the great Maya cities of the southern lowlands. Macaw Mountain Bird Park began in the late 1990s as a reserve and rehabilitation center for birds, including macaws abandoned as pets, and its aviaries are a popular complement to the ruins.
