Yes — confirmed as a private tour with your own English-speaking driver guide and SUV. Only your own group participates.
This 6-day version covers the same core of San Salvador, Suchitoto, the Maya sites, and Santa Ana Volcano, but skips the Ruta de las Flores and La Libertad coastline that the fuller 8-day route adds — a good fit for families with less time.
Yes — it's built around a family pace, with a mix of easy sightseeing days (Suchitoto, the Maya sites) and one more active day at Santa Ana Volcano, plus beach time at the end.
Santa Ana is an active volcano that last erupted in October 2005, so access is controlled and visits go with a guide who follows current official conditions.

About This Tour

A family-paced six-day route through San Salvador, the colonial town of Suchitoto, El Salvador's three main Maya sites, and a hike up Santa Ana Volcano, finishing with beach time at El Tunco. A shorter, family-friendly version of Voyzo's El Salvador routes, run entirely with a private English-speaking driver guide and SUV.

Santa Ana volcano, also known as Ilamatepec, is the high point of this family route, reaching 2,381 metres and the tallest peak in El Salvador. It is also an active volcano. It erupted on 1 October 2005, throwing rocks and a surge of boiling water from its crater lake and forcing the evacuation of roughly 2,000 people, the first eruption since 1904. Guided access today is managed with that history in mind.

The Maya sites give children something tangible to explore. Tazumal, in the town of Chalchuapa, was occupied for about a thousand years and was excavated and restored by archaeologist Stanley Boggs in the 1940s and 1950s, so you can climb around real stepped platforms. Joya de Cerén shows a farming village preserved under volcanic ash from around AD 600.

Ending the trip at a Pacific beach gives younger travellers some downtime after the volcano and ruins, a sensible shape for a six-day family pace.
