A week away from the Nile Valley entirely, exploring the Western Desert's Siwa and Bahariya oases — old mud-brick towns, hot springs, sand seas, and the White Desert's chalk formations. This trip is entirely within Egypt. There's no Nile cruise on this route — it heads west from Cairo into the Western Desert oases instead, which is a genuinely different side of Egypt from the Nile Valley/temple circuit.
A private guide, driver, and vehicle for the entire trip, with hotels pre-arranged at every overnight stop — the pace and any optional stops can still be shaped around your group.
Your hotel in Cairo, at approximately 7am on day 1.
Pickup from your Cairo hotel, a lunch stop at Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean coast, then arrival in Siwa.
Tour the Old City of Siwa (Shali), the Temple of Alexander the Great, the Amun Ra Temple, and Cleopatra's Spring, with sunset at Fatnis Island.
4x4 crossing into the Great Sand Sea, swimming at Shiata Lake, optional sand surfing, and a soak in the Bir Wahid hot spring.
Visit the Mountain of the Dead and its ancient tombs, Dakrour Mountain, and a Bedouin evening at the Roman Springs in Abu Sherouf.
A full-day transfer, with a lunch stop en route, to Bahariya Oasis.
Explore the volcanic Black Mountains and salt lakes, then the chalk formations of the White Desert, camping overnight in the desert.
Visit Crystal Mountain, the Valley of Agabat, and the hot springs at Valley of El Haize before the drive back to Cairo.
The trip ends back in Cairo, with drop-off at your Cairo hotel (airport transfer available on request).
