This private tour centres on the General Post Office, the building Patrick Pearse stood in front of to read the Proclamation of the Irish Republic on 24 April 1916, and which then served as rebel headquarters through the week of fighting that followed. Designed by Francis Johnston and completed in 1818, the GPO was gutted in the fighting and not fully rebuilt until 1929 - its granite facade is still sometimes pointed out for its supposed bullet scarring, though An Post itself has disputed exactly how much of that damage is original.
Beyond the GPO, your Local History Expert leads the way to the Court House and the James Connolly Memorial on Beresford Place, near Liberty Hall - a site Connolly himself used for political rallies before his execution, and now marked by a bronze statue unveiled in 1996 by President Mary Robinson, on the 80th anniversary of his death.
On the longer tier, skip-the-line tickets are included for the GPO Witness History museum inside the building itself - a genuinely immersive exhibition, opened for the Rising's 2016 centenary, that puts you inside an audiovisual recreation of the five days the GPO stood at the centre of Irish history, alongside one of the surviving original copies of the Proclamation.
