The National Gallery of Ireland opened its doors on 30 January 1864, founded a decade earlier by an Act of Parliament, with an opening collection of just 112 paintings - thirty-nine of them bought in Rome in 1856, and thirty more on loan from London's National Gallery. It's grown considerably since: today the collection runs to over 16,300 works, spanning Renaissance masters like Fra Angelico through to Monet and Picasso, alongside a strong core of Irish art.
That gallery is one of several real stops on this full private day, alongside Christ Church Cathedral - first built around 1030 under the Viking king Sitric Silkenbeard, rebuilt in stone in 1172 under the Anglo-Norman noble Strongbow, and rebuilt again almost entirely in the 1870s - plus St. Stephen's Green, Temple Bar, and Trinity College.
The day closes at the Guinness Storehouse, Ireland's most-visited single attraction, where the brewing story traces back to Arthur Guinness's original 9,000-year lease on the St. James's Gate site in 1759. Confirm whether storehouse admission is actually included in your ticket price when you book, since this is a packed, multi-stop itinerary.
